Ears had heard of you

Reading
Job 42:5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.

People who are familiar with the Bible know the story of Job. He was a God-fearing man. Though wealthy, he was benevolent, blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil, and often warned his children do so. Such a good man in the world seems perfect but when he suffered a series of disasters (bankruptcy, getting ulcers all over his body), he still kept his faith toward God. In all things, Job did not sin or charge God with wrong. Even though he was troubled by his friends, he was convinced that "Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and he who testifies for me is on high." (Job 16:19). After he was enabled by God, Job praised, "I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you.” (Job 42:5). Also Job, God's servant, in pain tribulation declared, “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God.”(Job 19:25-26) And that confidence motivated and comforted one generation to other generations of Christians in their growing pain of life.

Christians who live in peaceful society, will they be like Job? Become wealthy people who live perfect lives, just worrying about whether their children believe in God or not? Or only thinking of themselves and their families, how to live safely? Have we thought about God's original purpose for us? Can we think about how Lord Jesus came to not only let us have peace in the world, but also to want us to illuminate others’ way to the heavenly father? How do we hold our own faith, and how through Christ Jesus have we consecrated life? How do we overcome the temptations of Satan?

Thank God, who often leads us to triumph in Christ! We know that, whether we like it or not, admit it or not, a lot of things we cannot grasp. Even if we have all the world's wealth and power, we still cannot guarantee that our loved ones live a good life. Moreover, we cannot guarantee that our ideas will be accepted and respected by others. The most wealthy and powerful man in the world cannot guarantee that his children will have good marriages or lives. Alexander the Great could not guarantee that the Empire would not be separated after his death. Countless philosophers tried their best to change the course of human thinking. However, only Jesus Christ is life, truth and way. While we were yet sinners he paid the ransom for our lives, to reveal God's love to us. Now at the right hand of His Father, our King intercedes every day on our behalf, to give us power every moment, strengthening us to walk in God's purpose!

May God bless us! Put on the whole armour of God, resist the devil's schemes. God bless us, every day through experiencing his grace and salvation. So we can be like Job saying, My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you!
